Green Bay Packers Greatest Player #77: Santana Dotson

It is the second day in a row that we have a player that was not originally drafted by the Packers on our list. Santana Dotson was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fifth round (172nd overall pick) in the 1992 NFL Draft. In his first season in Tampa, he had a career-best 10.0 sacks and came in second in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting.
After four seasons with the Bucs, Dotson signed with the Green Bay Packers. He became one of the final pieces that the team needed to vault them into Super Bowl glory. Along with teammate Gilbert Brown, Dotson helped take away the middle of field for running backs and ate up blocks for Sean Jones and Reggie White.
That defensive line was the best in the NFL and led the Packers to two consecutive Super Bowl appearances. Dotson was a big part of it, as he had 8.5 sacks and 121 total tackles in those two seasons.
Dotson ended up playing six seasons with the Packers and ended with an AV of 51 with the team. His AV of 21 in four seasons with Tampa Bay gives him a total AV of 72 for his career.
