The Milwaukee Brewers and New York Yankees wrapped up a three game weekend series on Sunday, April 28.  Milwaukee won the first game in extra innings and then New York blew out the Brewers in the second and third games.  Their final contest had some drama as a blatant missed call eventually led to a seven run inning for the Yankees. The Milwaukee Brewers have lost a few valuable members over the last calendar year who were previously in their organization.  Manager Craig Counsell joined the division rival Chicago Cubs, Corbin Burnes was traded to the Baltimore Orioles, and Adrian Houser was dealt to the New York Mets. The Milwaukee Brewers are entering a Sunday series finale against the New York Yankees on April 28 with a record of 17-9.  They have lost just one series throughout the first month of the season and have a league leading 12 wins away from American Family Field.  They have managed to do this despite numerous injuries to key players. Milwaukee Brewers sophomore Brice Turang is off to a tremendous start.  The elite defending second baseman made a mark with his glove last year while also stealing 26 bases.  Unfortunately he only got on base at a .285 percent clip and he did not contribute as well as he would have liked offensively.  This year things are looking much different. Milwaukee Brewers infielder Joey Ortiz had a career night on Friday against the New York Yankees.  In the second inning he belted his first big league home run and then in the eleventh inning he ended the game with a walk-off single.  He entered that game in a 1-18 slump at the plate but now should have a ton of confidence. The Milwaukee Brewers recently found out that starting pitcher Wade Miley will undergo Tommy John surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his pitching elbow.  Injury to this ligament is a major risk with pitchers, but at 37 years old there is automatically some concern that this could be a career ending surgery for him.  When asked about it Miley indicated that he had other plans.
