The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday afternoon by a score of 7-5. An eighth inning go-ahead home run from Gary Sanchez helped cap off a come from behind victory. William Contreras also homered in this game and Jake Bauers, Rhys Hoskins, and Oliver Dunn added RBI’s over their own.
Milwaukee Brewers vs Pittsburgh Pirates 4/25 game recap: innings 1-5.

In this contest Freddy Peralta was on the mound for the Brewers and Mitch Keller the Pirates. William Contreras got the scoring started early with a first inning solo home run. Pittsburgh then countered in the bottom of the inning with a three run home run from Joey Bart.
Milwaukee plated two more runs in the third inning to tie the game at three. In the fifth inning a Rhys Hoskins double put the Brewers in front by a run, but then Peralta struggled, was unable to complete the inning, and gave up the lead. After five innings the Pirates had a 5-4 lead.
Gary Sanchez hit a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning off of Aroldis Chapman.

Pinch hitting in this game was Gary Sanchez. The right-handed hitter got the call in the eighth inning with southpaw Arolids Chapman on the mound and the tying run on base. Sanchez ended up hitting a go-ahead two run home run. Per Jake Crouse of MLB.com this home run was Milwaukee’s first off of Chapman since Jonathan Lucroy took him deep in 2013.
Trevor Megill picked up his first save of the season.

After taking the lead in the top of the eighth inning manager Pat Murphy summoned Joel Payamps in the bottom of the inning to hold on the lead. Payamps had recorded a save the night before, but was tasked with facing the seventh, eighth, and ninth hitters in this game. He allowed a leadoff double, but then kept the Pirates off the board. An inning later Trevor MeGill closed the game out with a clean 12 pitch 1-2-3 inning.
Overall Milwaukee finished a seven game road trip 5-2. They swept the Cardinals and split four games against the Pirates. Up next they have the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays at home.
