It is no secret that the wide receiver market is absolutely on fire lately. A wide receiver making 30 million dollars a year is not longer something to laugh at. It’s actually happening. Many star wide receivers around the league are seeing these numbers and know their play on the field, demands a large pay day:
Second-round picks that include WRs Deebo Samuel, A.J. Brown and Terry McLaurin are not expected to participate in their teams’ on-field off-season programs because they want new contracts at a time this off-season when WR deals have exploded, per league sources.

Terry McLaurin, AJ Brown, and Deebo Samuel were all drafted in the second round or later. This means each player received a standard four-year contract. Now each player has one year left on his original rookie deal in a wide receiver market that has dramatically shifted.
This is ground breaking that all three of these wide receivers would choose to have this leaked on the same day. Yes, a long term deal with their current team is the most likely outcome, but this HAS to beg the question; would at least ONE of these wide receivers be traded? We all know what the Chiefs and Packers got for Hill and Adams. A deal like that could intriguing to an NFL team.
What these three receivers did in 2021:
Samuel, 26, is coming off a breakthrough season during which he helped San Francisco reach the NFC Championship Game. He finished fifth in the league with 1,405 receiving yards, caught six touchdown passes and rushed for eight touchdowns — an NFL single-season record for a receiver.
Brown, 24, battled injuries last season after eclipsing 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first two years with the Titans. He had 63 catches for 869 yards and five TDs in 13 games; Tennessee went 11-2 in the games Brown played.
McLaurin, 26, enjoyed another productive season in 2021 despite Washington’s inconsistency at quarterback. He had 1,053 yards — his second straight 1,000-yard season — and five TDs on 77 receptions.
It was later reported that Terry McLaurin would report to camp:
As a team leader, Terry McLaurin still will be reporting to the team’s off-season program that opens today while his contract situation remains unresolved, per source.

Tennessee’s off-season program opens today, San Francisco’s Tuesday. But this is an issue that hangs over these players, their teams, and this draft. Teams will have option to extend these players’ contracts or explore trades for them.

While McLaurin is reporting to camp, his contract situation remains extremely unsolved. Still a name to watch for going forward as it is obvious he is not happy with his contract.
