A few days ago the Milwaukee Brewers signed veteran pitcher Julio Teheran to a MLB contract.  This decision came after he opted out of his minor league contract with the San Diego Padres. On Thursday May 25, 2023 the Milwaukee Brewers welcomed MLB commissioner Rob Manfred to American Family Field.  Prior to his arrival a report surfaced that the team received a serious warning regarding upgrades that will need to be done to ensure that the stadium remains a MLB-caliber ballpark. In November the Milwaukee Brewers selected Gus Varland in the Rule-5 draft.  The former starting pitcher turned reliever showed enough promise and skill that Milwaukee elected to take a low risk gamble on him for Rule-5 draft picks have to remain on the selecting teams active roster for an entire season otherwise risk being claimed off waivers or being sent to their original organization.
