The Milwaukee Brewers pitching staff has been decimated with injuries early on into the 2024 season. A handful of pitchers are currently on the injured list in which we already know that Brandon Woodruff will not return this year. However others will be returning and recently GM Matt Arnold provided some updates as to when they might return.
Milwaukee Brewers injury update #1: Devin Williams.
All-Star closer Devin Williams is currently on the injured list with stress fractures in his back. He saw a specialist during spring training after some soreness that he first experienced towards the end of last season returned early on in camp. His injury is being managed conservatively but entails six weeks of no throwing and then six weeks of rehab. Right now his timeline for return is the All-Star break.
Milwaukee Brewers injury update #2: Taylor Clarke.
Right-handed reliever Taylor Clarke was acquired via trade this off-season. He previously was a member of the Kansas City Royals and he is a member of the Brewers 40-man roster. Currently he is rehabbing back from surgery on his meniscus and is expected back in late May.
Milwaukee Brewers injury update #3: Robert Gasser.
Pitching prospect Robert Gasser was previously diagnosed with bone spurs in his left elbow. Manager Pat Murphy hinted late in spring training that Gasser could be promoted to the big leagues in April. His currently elbow issue may delay his MLB debut but he is trending in the right direction as he is scheduled to throw two innings in Arizona on Saturday.
Other Brewers pitchers on the IL include Jakob Junis and Trevor MeGill. Junis was placed on the IL out of precaution due to a shoulder issue and MeGill suffered a concussion.
