The Milwaukee Brewers are approaching a unique franchise milestone in which the next new player to make an appearance for them will be their 1,000th player to play in a game for them. Prior to Tuesday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds they selected the contract of pitcher Kevin Herget. If he appears in a game for the Crew he will be the player to break that milestone.
If/when he gets in a game, Kevin Herget would be the 1,000th player for the Brewers since the franchise moved to Milwaukee in 1970.
So if you had Kevin Herget in the pool, collect your winnings.

Kevin Herget signed a minor league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers in February.
33 year old right-handed thrower Kevin Herget signed a minor league contract with the Brewers a few months ago. He spent time with the Cincinnati Reds each of the past two seasons, the Tampa Bay Rays before that, and then the Cleveland Guardians and St. Louis Cardinals as well.
Herget has thrown a career 31.1 big league innings with the bulk of those opportunities coming with the Reds a season ago. His MLB debut came in 2022 with the Rays when he covered seven innings for them. If he pitches in the big leagues for the Brewers they would be his third organization in as many years.
Numbers wise Herget has a career 5.74 ERA at the major league level. In the minor leagues that number lowers to 3.55 across 719.2 innings pitched. He has experience as both a starting pitcher and a reliever.
