The Milwaukee Brewers re-signed veteran pitcher Wade Miley this off-season. After pitching beautifully for the Crew in 2023 (3.14 ERA across 23 starts and 120 inning pitched) he initially declined his half of a $10 MM option for the 2024 season and received a $1 MM buyout.
Miley then elected to remain a Brewer by agreeing to a deal that has a $7.00 MM base salary, $1.5 MM buyout on a 2025 mutual option, 10-team limited no trade clause, pay incentive escalators, and a $1.0 MM re-assignment bonus if traded.
Wade Miley began the 2024 season on the Milwaukee Brewers injured list.
Entering spring training Wade Miley reportedly entered camp having lost weight due to a sickness. He then was slowed down due to a shoulder issue, was working his way back from that and then was scratched from a spring training start due to groin tightness. Following that the decision was made to have him begin the year on the injured list.
Last week Wade Miley made a rehab appearance with the Nashville Sounds.
On Friday, April 5 Miley made a rehab appearance in Triple-A. He threw 55 pitches and covered three innings. At age 37 he no longer will be a starter who works deep into games, so the goal for him this season will be managing his work load and keeping him healthy for the later half of the year.
The line for Wade Miley’s rehab start…
3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K on 55 pitches.

Wade Miley is set to make his 2024 season debut against the Cincinnati Reds.
Per Sophia Minnaert the plan right now is for Miley to start on Wednesday, April 10 against the Reds. This will be the third out of four games in their series. The decision to have Miley pitch Wednesday will push Freddy Peralta’s next start back by one day. Milwaukee is currently in their first of two separate stretches of 13 games in a row during the month of April, so giving guys extra rest early on should pay dividends down the road.
Brewers pitching vs Reds:
Aaron Ashby, Joe Ross, TBA, Freddy Peralta.
• Wade Miley is anticipated to come off the IL and start Wednesday.
• Trevor Megill started playing catch today after fainting on Monday. Concussion symptoms have subsided and can start building up.— Sophia Minnaert (@SophiaMinnaert) April 8, 2024
