The Indiana Pacers tole away home court from the Milwaukee Bucks with a massive statement win in Game 2 on Tuesday. The Pacers knew that they had a tremendous opportunity to take a significant advantage in this series against a hobbling Milwaukee side, and that’s exactly what they delivered on Tuesday via a an eye-opening 125-108 blowout victory at the Fiserv Forum.
Despite the fact that momentum is on their side, Pacers superstar Tyrese Haliburton has sent a stern warning to his team about keeping their eyes on the prize.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Tyrese Haliburton Sends Message to Pacers
Haliburton bounced back on Tuesday after his forgettable Game 1 performance. The All-Star point guard finished Indiana’s Game 2 victory with 12 points, four rebounds, 12 assists, a steal, and a block in 37 minutes of action.
After the win, Haliburton acknowledged that the Pacers have found themselves in a great position to go ahead and take control of this series as it heads to Indiana for Game 3 and 4. At the same time, however, the 24-year-old has warned his squad about the dangers of being too complacent:
“You’ve got to bounce back after a win as well,” Haliburton said on Thursday, via Wheat Hotchkiss of NBA.com. “When you’re riding that high — that was my first playoff win ever, a lot of us our first playoff win ever — in that moment, it’s easy to fall into the trap of feeling like you’re now in control.
“But it’s 1-1. It could swing any way at this point. As a group, we’ve got to just understand it’s just one game.”
As Haliburton said, it would be a major mistake for the Pacers to think that they have an advantage at this point in the series. The 6-foot-5 combo guard just isn’t going to let his team lose their focus.
‘Don’t Take This For Granted’
Haliburton also knows that the Pacers have a golden opportunity in their hands. This is their first time back in the postseason after a four-year hiatus, and there’s no denying that both the players and the fans are hungry for some playoff success.
Be that as it may, Haliburton remains adamant that now is not the time for Indiana to go off the rails, so to speak:
“We have a lot of guys who haven’t won in some time,” Haliburton said. “It’s important for all of us to understand that don’t take this for granted, understand that winning is hard. We’re not looking forward to anything. We’re just really taking this a day at a time. That’s really what we’ve preached all year.”
Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
