Aaron Rodgers trade rumors have been swirling for months now. Rodgers is set to start his darkness retreat at the end of this week. If Rodgers emerges out of the darkness retreat still wanting to play football, the Green Bay Packers will have to make a decision. Keep the four-time MVP, or trade him for a massive haul? If the Packers decide the latter, they will likely have more than one team vying for his services. The New York Jets have been at the center of those trade talks if Rodgers is eventually dealt. However, if Rodgers stays in Green Bay or is traded elsewhere, the Jets reportedly have a backup plan.

During an appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show” Wednesday, Peter King of NBC Sports suggested that the Jets would likely check in on the availability of Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson if they fail to get Rodgers.
“We all think that the No. 1 step would be Aaron Rodgers. If that doesn’t work, could the No. 2 step be Lamar Jackson?” King told Eisen. “I think the Jets are going to have a very tough decision on their hands, and I think they will go after Rodgers if he does play, and if they don’t get him, I think they will at least put their sniffers out and seriously consider Lamar Jackson.”
If Rodgers decides to leave Green Bay, he would potentially be easier to acquire than Jackson would be. Many things have to happen before the Ravens even think of entertaining a Jackson trade, but even if it gets to that point, the cost in picks sounds like it would be enormous.
It would be undoubtedly easier to trade for Aaron Rodgers than it would for Lamar Jackson. Both are in the top tier of quarterbacks in the NFL, however Rodgers is 39, Jackson is 26. A trade package for Aaron Rodgers would likely consist of one or two first round picks or a player. Lamar Jackson might be in the realm of a Russell Wilson type of trade package.
