Throughout his 11-year career in the NBA, the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo has won a wide variety of accolades and broken his fair share of records in the league. And considering the humble beginning he comes from, that’s a pretty awesome journey he has had so far.
Speaking of that 11-year run, Antetokounmpo is currently averaging 23.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game. Along with those numbers, he’s one-half of the Antetokounmpo-Damian Lillard duo that has a lot of potential to go far in the playoffs.
In that span, the Greek Freak has done a lot in the NBA. Antetokounmpo has been named to seven All-Star Games, won MVP twice, captured the championship with the Bucks in 2021, and was awarded the Finals MVP for his effort.
Now, the Bucks have chosen Doc Rivers to coach the team after firing Adrian Griffin. With a coach of Rivers’ caliber at the helm, Antetokounmpo is poised to compete for another ring in the months to come.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo Shares True Feelings on Winning the NBA Community Assist Award
Among all the accolades Antetokounmpo has won in the league, the All-Star forward considers the NBA Community Assist Award a more meaningful achievement than the others.
According to a video Antetokounmpo shared on X:
This truly meant a lot to me. Thank you Mariah, Maya and all the people in Milwaukee who helped create special moments for the kids and families this past holiday 🙏🏾🎁🎄 @nbacares pic.twitter.com/OknoVtC42F
— Giannis Antetokounmpo (@Giannis_An34) January 28, 2024
The said award honors NBA players who have made an effort to strengthen their respective communities through charity and philanthropic work.
Apart from thanking Mariah and Maya, Antetokounmpo’s wife and sister-in-law, he also mentions how the NBA Community Assist Award is the only accolade his mother is proud of. In any case, the Greek Freak has solidified himself as one of Milwaukee’s best, not only on the court, but in the hearts of its people, and this award just proves it.
