The Green Bay Packers have been at the center of some pretty massive trades over the last few years. In back-to-back off-seasons the Packers traded away Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers. This off-season, they moved on from Aaron Jones in favor of Josh Jacobs.
As we enter the 2024 season, the Packers look to be one of the teams that can compete for the playoffs, possibly a Super Bowl title.
Former wide receiver Davante Adams sees that.
Former Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Davante Adams Sounds Like He May Have Buyers Remorse
In the offseason of 2022, All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams faced a career-defining decision after being franchise tagged by the Green Bay Packers, his football home of eight seasons (2014-2021).
A new, long-term deal was on Adams’ mind, but since Aaron Rodgers’ long-term commitment was up in the air, he opted to ask for a trade to the Raiders in order to reunite with Derek Carr, his best friend from college at Fresno State.
After the Packers traded Adams for Vegas’ 2022 first and second round picks, Adams signed a five-year, $140 million deal with the team.
Looking back, Adams could be having buyers remorse:
“At the time when I was there [in Green Bay], I hadn’t seen enough [of Love], to say for sure ‘this is what I should do [stay with the Packers],'” Adams said on “The Rush Podcast” with Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby on Tuesday.
“In hindsight, like we talked about, the kid [Love] is a f—ing baller, man. I’m so happy for him. I haven’t had the chance to truly sit down and talk with him, but I want to tell him at some point ‘I definitely don’t regret changing [teams], but I’m super proud of what you’ve done. If there was a way I could pull you over here and drag you with me that would have been cool too because we saw what he did at the end of the year [throw 23 touchdowns and only three interceptions in his last 10 games including the playoffs].
I don’t regret what I did [demand a trade to the Raiders], but at the same time you look back on it like ‘damn that boy kind of balling right now.'”
The Packers Have A Very Bright Future With Their Passing Attack
There is a lot of optimism going forward for this team thanks to Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, and Dontayvion Wicks. There have even been significant contributions by Bo Melton, Luke Musgrave, and Tucker Kraft.
The first season Love played, he passed for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions while completing 64.2 percent of his passes. Also, he rushed for 247 yards and four touchdowns.
It is expected that the young group will continue to grow for many years to come. It is likely that the Bears got significantly better during the 2024 NFL Draft. The Vikings hope to have drafted their quarterback of the future. Seeing how the NFC North develops in the future will be interesting.
