In March 2022 Marquez Valdes-Scantling signed a three-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. This came less than one week after there were reports of Valdes-Scantling and the Packers working on a deal. Kansas City gave him a three year 30 million dollar contract. Here is the contract breakdown:
- Three-year, $30 million deal
- $18 million in the first two years
- Incentives to reach a maximum of $36 million
That was more than the Packers were willing to pay and the Chiefs certainly used MVS this year. Kansas City played their final regular season game on Saturday Vs. the Las Vegas Raiders. The Chiefs dominated that game winning 31-13 and the Chiefs finished 14-3 on the season. Here is Valdes-Scantling’s final stat line for the 2022 regular season.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling’s Final Stat Line Of 2022
- 17 games played in, 11 games started
- 81 targets (most in career)
- 42 receptions (most in career)
- 687 yards (second most in career)
- 16.4 yards per reception (4th most in career)
- 2 touchdowns (tied for third most in career)
One day after trading Tyreek Hill to Miami, Kansas City spent big money they freed up on MVS. He was a new speed threat for Patrick Mahomes. Now Marquez Valdes-Scantling and the Kansas City Chiefs look to make a post season run. The Chiefs are currently the number one overall seed in the AFC, however they could play a playoff game at a neutral site if the team they face has played a different number of games. The Bengals and Bills both won’t have any many games played as the Chiefs due to their match-up being cancelled after Damar Hamlin’s injury. It is certainly going to be a interesting off-season.
