The Milwaukee Brewers seemingly cannot catch a break on the injury front.  On the same day that they announced that Wade Miley would be joining starters DL Hall, Jakob Junis, and Brandon Woodruff on the injured list a freak accident during batting practice resulted in a rehabbing Junis being sent to the hospital via an ambulance.

Prior to the Brewers and Pirates opening game both squads were on the field beforehand.  Jakob Junis was getting some conditioning in along the warning track when he was hit in the neck by a fly ball.  Per reports he was down for 15-20 minutes, thankfully was responsive, and ultimately was taken to the hospital via ambulance for further testing and monitoring.

The Milwaukee Brewers already had Jakob Junis on their injured list.

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Jakob Junis (35) pitches during the first inning of the game against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday April 2, 2024 at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wis.

This off-season Junis signed with the Brewers for $7.00 million guaranteed.  He landed on the injured list with a shoulder issue after making just one start.  His prognosis for return was trending in the right direction, but with this new injury he may end up missing more than anticipated.

Do the Brewers need to acquire more starting pitchers?

Milwaukee has had eight different pitchers start games for them already this season.  Tobias Myers is a likely candidate to start one in the near future, Bryse Wilson could spot start again, and prospect Robert Gasser is reportedly in the mix as well.  Adding pitchers via trade is likely on the horizon, but this early into the season they may be content burning through their internal options and hoping that they get one player to stick for a prolonged period of time.
