The Milwaukee Bucks were still able to take care of business on Sunday against the Indiana Pacers despite not having Giannis Antetokounmpo available. Damian Lillard went off in his first-ever postseason appearance for Milwaukee to lead the Bucks to a 109-94 victory over Tyrese Haliburton and Co.
At this point, it appears that Dame will need to lead the charge again for Game 2 on Tuesday as Antetokounmpo continues to struggle with his nagging calf injury.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Doc Rivers Drops Giannis Antetokounmpo Injury Update
Bucks head coach Doc Rivers spoke to reporters on Monday to try and shed some light on Antetokounmpo’s current injury situation. Fans will be disappointed to know, however, that the veteran shot-caller wasn’t able to provide much information on Giannis’ status moving forward.
Rivers was able to reveal that the former back-to-back MVP was able to put in a “pretty good brisk workout” on Sunday. He then followed that up by saying that Giannis did not do much on Monday because he was given a “maintenance day.”
“I’ve used this line … I don’t want to use it … about my name. I’m not a real doctor,” he said with a laugh, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “Honestly, I don’t even go there. I can literally not tell you one thing about anything those guys do. I’ve learned that I just stay out of the training room.
“… I know he’s doing physical lifting and moving. But today, he’s been on the court four days in a row, so I think today is a non-court day, that might be a better way to say that.”
That isn’t exactly an encouraging update from the Bucks coach with Game 2 coming up. Right now, it does not sound like Antetokounmpo will be ready to suit up in that one, considering how he hasn’t even turned in a full practice session yet.
Then again, this is Giannis we’re talking about here and this is the Playoffs after all. At this point, anything can happen.
