The Cincinnati Reds have announced that they have signed Trey Mancini to a minor league contract.  He played a pivotal role on the 2022 World Series winning Houston Astros team and then signed a two year, $14 MM contract with the Chicago Cubs in the off-season. Milwaukee Brewers top ranked prospect Jackson Chourio has spent the entire season in Double-A with the Biloxi Shuckers.  A promotion may be in his future soon, but remaining at the same minor league level has allowed him to break a Shuckers record held by Corey Ray. Major Milwaukee Brewers and New York Mets news was made public recently by Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.  His reporting indicated that at this year’s trade deadline the Brewers were in the center of trade discussions for star first baseman Pete Alonso. St. Louis Cardinals catcher Willson Contreras was ejected for arguing balls and strikes in the seventh inning on Tuesday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. This was a theme during the game as three ejections were handed out after arguing balls and strikes, but Contreras had the most dramatic exit. Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick was a late scratch from the starting lineup on Tuesday night during the team’s opening game against the Minnesota Twins.  The team had an off day on Monday after completing a series sweep against the Texas Rangers, but during Sunday’s finale Sal Frelick sat out of the game due to a hamstring issue that was presented the night before when he was trying to beat out a ground ball.  Two days later it appears his hamstring is not good enough to be in the starting lineup despite initially being placed on the lineup card.
