The Milwaukee Brewers currently have a record of 72-47.  As a franchise, the Brewers record for wins in a regular season is 96.  The 2011 Brewers initially set this record and it was accomplished again in 2018.  It did take the 2018 team 163 regular season games to get 96 wins. This year, the Brewers are set up nicely to chase the franchise record for wins in a single season! For the 2021 Brewers, it has been an all hands on deck approach.  The team was plagued by injuries early on in the season, but found ways to win.  Recently,…

For a while now, we have known that the Milwaukee Brewers had a few tough roster decisions looming.  Reports are now indicating that Travis Shaw is currently in the waiver process. This means that rather than activating Shaw to the 26 man roster, he was removed from the 40 man roster and was designated for assignment.  If he clears the waiver process he could be outrighted to a minor league affiliate with the Brewers, likely Triple-A.  He also could decline and elect to play elsewhere/enter free agency. Travis Shaw is in waiver process, have heard as @pgammo mentioned yesterday. He…

Corbin Burnes

Corbin Burnes is a legit Cy Young candidate this season.  In his last start he again remonstrated that by tying a MLB record and setting two new franchise records!  In tying the MLB record of 10 consecutive strikeouts in a row, he now owns that franchise record.  Additionally, he set the franchise record for strikeouts in a game without allowing a walk. Yovani Gallardo previously owned the franchise record of 14 strikeouts in a game without allowing a walk.  Burnes beat this by striking out 15.  As for striking out 10 batters in a row, he joined just two other…

Entering a four game series vs the Chicago Cubs, the Milwaukee Brewers had a few questions marks regarding their starting rotation.  It all started last week when Adrian Houser and Eric Lauer were placed on the COVID IL. They were projected to start Tuesday and Wednesdays games.  Monday nights game was post-posted and afterwards it was announced that Aaron Ashby will get a second chance vs the Cubs on Tuesday. Freddy Peralta is scheduled to start Game 1 of Tuesday’s doubleheader against the Cubs and Aaron Ashby will be recalled to start Game 2. — Adam McCalvy (@AdamMcCalvy) August 10,…

Every year there are crazy stories and insane stat lines that occur in the minor leagues.  This year, Brewers prospect Joey Wiemer has put together not only a good season, but a ridiculous four game stretch.  Lets check in for a minor league update on how he is doing. On the season, with the Low-A affiliate Carolina Mudcats, Wiemer is slashing .273/.387/.473/.861 with 13 home runs and 44 runs batted in.  As a fourth round draft pick in the 2020 draft out of Cincinnati, this is his first year of professional baseball.  Given that his throwing arm was his highest…

The injury bug has not been kind to the Milwaukee Brewers this season.  Earlier, following a string of injuries, the Brewers lost both Daniel Vogelbach and Travis Shaw within two week of one another.  Thankfully both seem to be recovering well and are currently on a minor league rehab assignment.  Lets check in on how each of them are doing. Daniel Vogelbach was sent on minor league rehab assignment July 29th to the Nashville Sounds.  He initially was placed on the IL following a hamstring injury against the Diamondbacks.   Over the course of nine days and six games, Vogelbach has…

Since the departure of Prince Fielder, first base has been a revolving door for the Brewers.  This year has been no different.  Earlier in the season, Keston Hiura, Travis Shaw, Daniel Vogelbach, and Jace Peterson received majority of the playing time at the position.  Most recently it has been Rowdy Tellez at first base.  Since joining the Brewers, he is having success at the plate. Tellez was acquired from the Blue Jays in early July.  The move was made shortly after Vogelbach was placed on the injured list.  Many comparisons between the two were initially made.  For instance, they both…

The calendar has officially switched to August and the Milwaukee Brewers find themselves in a great position in the standings.  However, more recently, one big impeding factor has been health of the players due landing on the COVID IL.  So far the bullpen has been hit the hardest, which means other relievers will need to step up as these numbers rise. Initially this all began when Christian Yelich and Jace Peterson were placed on the IL.  Shortly after, Jake Cousins, Jandel Gustave, and Hunter Strickland joined them on the IL.  Lastly, as of August 2nd, superstar closer Josh Hader was…

The 2021 Milwaukee Brewers have been led by a dominant pitching staff, being responsible for a large part of the team’s success. At times, the offense has showed sign of life, but for the most part, they have disappointed.  However, In July the Brewers had one of the best offenses in baseball. With the All-Star break being in July, the Brewers played 24 games last month. 14 of their July games came against the Pirates and Reds. The remaining teams played were the Mets, Royals, White Sox and Braves. In summary, the month was a good mixture of facing elite…
