Milwaukee Brewers southpaw Aaron Ashby is looking to make a comeback to the major leagues.  After extensive rehab and conservative treatments on his shoulder he eventually underwent a surgical debridement procedure.  He did return to pitching in live games in 2023, but between decreased velocity and not seeing good results he did not make it back to the big leagues. The Milwaukee Brewers and Seattle Mariners have shared a lot of players with each other over recent years.  Two more players can now be added to that list as a position player and a pitcher have joined the organization.  Both were free agents and signed minor league contracts with the Mariners. Craig Counsell managed his first game with the Chicago Cubs on Friday, February 23 as he defeated the Chicago White Sox by a score of 8-1.  Even though this was a spring training game it did mark the first time that he had managed a game for an organization not named the Milwaukee Brewers.  During the broadcast Counsell made a comment that may not sit well with Brewers fans. The Milwaukee Brewers and Gary Sanchez have officially agreed to terms regarding a contract for the 2024 season, but it took nearly two weeks for the sides to come together after having to re-negotiate.  An issue during Sanchez’s physical was the hold up and it was related to the same right hand/wrist that caused his 2023 season to end prematurely. Gary Sanchez fractured his wrist last September with the San Diego Padres.  A 98 MPH fastball to the wrist in September of 2023 resulted in a fracture for Gary Sanchez.  This caused his season to end early.  Despite this history…

Milwaukee Brewers spring training is underway and one major story line has been Sal Frelick experimenting as an infielder.  He trained with Boston Red Sox legend Dustin Pedroia this off-season and was essentially labeled as “ready” by the four time gold glove award winner. Through Brewers media personnel and reporters we have seen glimpses of how Frelick looks playing both second and third base.  Some videos have provided a ton of hope that he will make it as an infielder, but he also has not been seen in game action yet. The Milwaukee Brewers have brought the currently injured Brandon Woodruff back on a guaranteed two year, $17.5 million deal.  There is a mutual option for a third year that would increase the contracts total value to 27.5 million and his deal also features a full no-trade clause.  This appears to be a win-win for both sides as Woodruff gets financial security while rehabbing back from shoulder surgery and Milwaukee gets to retain a homegrown ace for a reasonable price. The Milwaukee Brewers made the extremely difficult decision last November to non-tender starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff.  Woodruff just recently turned 31 years old but underwent shoulder surgery earlier this winter that may cause him to miss most or all of the 2024 season.  2024 also just so happened to originally be his final year of team control, so Milwaukee elected to cut ties with him rather than pay him an estimated $11.6 million.
