The Wisconsin Badgers will have three of their former players attending the NFL Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana this upcoming week. Nick Herbig, Keeanu Benton, and Joe Tippmann will showcase their talents for NFL scouts, general managers, and coaches. The Green Bay Packers are sending general manager Brian Gutekunst to Indianapolis, Indiana next week for the 2023 NFL Combine. Head coach Matt LaFleur and the rest of the Packers’ training staff, however, will not be joining him. ESPN’s Rob Demovsky broke the news on Twitter: Demovsky continued: “GM Brian Gutekunst and the personnel department will staff the combine as usual. Typically, Gutekunst has brought the coaching staff into pre-draft meetings and there’s no indication that will change. Aaron Rodgers has emerged from his darkness retreat and trade rumors seem to have died down. With Derek Carr visiting the New York Jets, it seems as if New York is keeping their options open before over-paying for the four-time MVP. Additionally, the Las Vegas Raiders have recently backed out of any potential trade discussions. That has not stopped many from still believing that a trade of Rodgers to either of those teams could still happen. The Green Bay Packers, unfortunately, saw many of their best players underperform in 2022. This played as big a part as any in the team’s 8-9 finish and absence from the NFC Playoffs. In 2021, the Packers put seven players on PFF’s top 101 players list. The Milwaukee Bucks surprised everyone when Giannis Antetokounmpo was added to the starting lineup minutes before gametime. Unfortunately, the two-time MVP was only able to play a little over six minutes. Giannis bumped knees with a Miami Heat defender and missed the rest of the game. Fortunately, the return of Bobby Portis, the additions of Jae Crowder and Myles Leonard, and the All-Star play of Jrue Holiday was enough to lead the Bucks to a 124-99 blowout victory of the Heat. Aaron Rodgers may come back to play in the NFL next season. If he does, he may play for the Green Bay Packers. Of course, he may not do either. Doug Pederson, of course, is the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars and won a Super Bowl as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. There are few Green Bay Packers players more beloved among the fanbase than Randall Cobb. An unrestricted free agent, Cobb’s future with the team is uncertain, but it has truly been a pleasure to have seen him find his way back to the Packers after the team released him in 2019. Over the course of his career, Cobb has amassed 625 receptions for 7,585 yards and 53 touchdowns. The Milwaukee Bucks are set to resume play against the Miami Heat on Friday night. They will do so, most likely, without the assistance of Giannis Antetokounmpo who sprained his wrist right before the All-Star break.
