The Wisconsin Badgers will have three of their former players attending the NFL Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana this upcoming week. Nick Herbig, Keeanu Benton, and Joe Tippmann will showcase their talents for NFL scouts, general managers, and coaches. While the above three former Badgers players are not the only ones who declared for the NFL Draft, they are the only ones who were invited to the NFL Combine.
Two of the Three Former Wisconsin Badgers Were Ranked Top-40 Prospects
Earlier this week, I wrote about how Nick Herbig was named by PFF to be one of the sleepers in the upcoming NFL Draft. It would appear that Fox Sports is sleeping on him as he was left off of their list of the 64 best players in the draft.
#26- Joe Tippmann (Center)
Of Tippmann, Rob Rang wrote:
“It isn’t often that centers warrant top-50 consideration, but Tippman is unique, offering an exceptional combination of size, athleticism and experience in a pro-style offense.”
At six foot five and 315 pounds, Tippmann can play just about anywhere on the offensive line. In fact, his versatility makes him just the kind of prospect that the Green Bay Packers like to take.
#33- Keeanu Benton (Defensive Tackle)
Of Benton, Rang wrote:
“Arguably this year’s “biggest” winner from the Senior Bowl, Benton showed off surprising quickness and balance as a rusher, complementing the power he showed as a run-stuffing nose guard for the Badgers.”
Benton’s performance during the Senior Bowl practices and drills garnered him praise from all over the NFL, especially with a scout working for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
