The Milwaukee Brewers have never won a World Series. Is 2024 their year?
The owner of the team, Mark Attanasio, has high hopes for his club. He said, “We don’t have the real one we want, which is a World Series championship, but we’ve been knocking on the door.’’
Before they can run, they must walk. The path to victory runs through the NL Central.
All the clubs in the NL Central are just as hungry and tough as the Brewers. The division is undoubtedly more competitive than last season. Just look at the other teams. The Cincinnati Reds have an arsenal of fiery, young talent like Ely de La Cruz and Jonathan India. Up in Chi-town, the Cubs are led by Dansby Swanson. While the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals had a rough season last year, they’re looking primed to make a solid run this season.
The NL Central won’t be a walk in the park. The Brewers come in as reigning champions of the division, but can they reclaim that title?
Expert Insight on the Milwaukee Brewers 2024 season
Pat Murphy is the head honcho of this team now. The manager said, “We’re gonna play hard and compete. Be careful, because they might just believe themselves right into contention.”
The managers believes in this team. The players believe in this team. The fans believe in this team. What about the experts?
Bobby Wagner from The Ringer thinks any team could take the NL Central. All the teams have things going for them. But there’s no denying the Brewers took a few blows this off-season. Brandon Woodruff is out for the season. They had big changes in management with a new GM and manager. Though, with tried and true players like Christian Yelich and potential NL Rookie of the Year Jackson Chourio, there’s no doubt this team can compete with the best of them. With all this information, Wagner thinks the Brewers could eke out a victory as the NL Central’s underdog.
Russell Dorsey with Yahoo! Sports also sees the division as a toss-up. He gives the Brewers a projected record of 80-82. In Dorsey’s forecasting, Freddy Peralta’s emerges as the team’s ace. Offensive firepower from William Contreras, Rhys Hoskins, and a resurgent Christian Yelich adds depth to the lineup. Jackson Chourio blossoms into a dynamic five-tool player. However, injuries to key pitchers like Corbin Burnes and Brandon Woodruff, along with bullpen challenges, pose formidable hurdles.
Dorsey writes whatever every Brewers fan knows, “The Brewers are similar to the Rays in that no matter the roster, somehow they seem to always reach the postseason.”
CBS Sports doesn’t look to kindly upon the Brewers. While one lone voice dared to place them in contention for second place, the prevailing sentiment crowns the Cubs as division champions, with a nod towards the Cardinals as well. Notably, three prognosticators foresee the Brewers limping in at last place.
All of these are nothing but predictions. Experts the countrywide can’t confidently say who will take the NL Central.
In the marathon of baseball, where predictions often falter in the face of on-field realities, the fate of the Milwaukee Brewers remains uncertain. The NL Central may be a battleground, but it is also a stage where underdogs defy expectations and perennial contenders falter. As the season unfolds and the crack of the bat resonates through ballparks, only time will reveal whether 2024 is the year the Brewers come out on top, fueled by the relentless pursuit of their ultimate goal: a World Series championship.
