The current NBA season is almost at its halfway mark, and the MVP conversation is getting louder as each day passes. Unfortunately, the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo is being overlooked by the media, leading to a wave of outrage among fans.
As it stands, the Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic is leading the pack with averages of 26.3 points, 12.2 rebounds, 9.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s bonkers stats of 31.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 2.2 steals per contest is considered the second-likeliest star to win MVP this season.
Coming in at third place is the Bucks’ Antetokounmpo. Over the course of 53 games, the Greek Freak is averaging 30.7 points, 11.4 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.1 blocks per contest. Like Jokic and Gilgeous-Alexander, he’s also playing for a contender this season, making him a strong candidate to win MVP.

But based on the numbers, it looks like Antetokounmpo is the most productive out of the three. Even if that’s the case, critics have favored Jokic and Gilgeous-Alexander more than the Bucks’ All-Star forward, as seen in the video posted above.
Milwaukee Bucks Fans Express Their Outrage After Learning Giannis Antetokounmpo Isn’t the Frontrunner
This recent development in the MVP race has rubbed fans of the Greek Freak the wrong way. Shown below are several reactions about the matter posted on X:
“There is no reason that Giannis shouldn’t be in your top 3 for MVP. Absolutely none. It makes zero sense,” Socialist Bucks wrote.
“Not even gonna mention Giannis owning Jokic :(,” Brooklyn said.
“The producer queued the Giannis film and they started talking about Shai, Kawhi and Dmitch,” per EurosteP.
“This isn’t even logical. This is clearly scripted because in no way shape or form is Klaw, Dmitch, and Luka above Giannis. Luka is the only one out of those three that can even be looking in through a window,” Nathan explained.
“Here we go again! Just more disrespect to Giannis even after he DOMINATED Joker last night. At this point, who cares, Bucks are chasing championships, not personal accolades. BUCKS IN 6!!!” Nick L. Sports ranted.
“Giannis putting up Wilt-esque numbers despite having one of the worst coaches in NBA History for 43 games should be an overwhelming endorsement for MVP. No talk of Giannis owning Jokic, just last night. MVP has become a farce. Lets just win title & forget about media-voted awards,” Paul Henning said.
“Giannis is on pace to become the first player ever to average 30+ ppg with a FG% north of 60 and people are acting like he is having a down year lol,” Jake Reetz posted.
“Windy voted Giannis for MVP last year so he hasn’t always been this illogical, but this is just classic over-thinking/debate show pretzel logic. No sane observer of the NBA should be making a serious case for anyone but Giannis, Joker or Shai at this point,” Frank Madden expounded.
These people make a fair point, especially after Antetokounmpo came out on top of Jokic in their recent match. Fortunately, there’s still some time for the Greek Freak to win more people to his cause in the coming months.
