With the 2024 NFL Draft beginning tomorrow, the Green Bay Packers are loaded with 11 draft picks. That is tied for the most in the league. Out of those 11 picks, five of them are top 100 picks, something most teams would love to have.
The Packers only have a few needs to address this year. That is safety, inside linebacker, and offensive line. Will Green Bay use these picks to move up? Move down? Stay? Here is what I think the Green Bay Packers will do with these 11 picks.
The Green Bay Packers Will Draft Best Player Available With Their First Pick
The closer we have gotten to this draft, the more people are saying they think the Green Bay Packers will trade out of the 25th pick. If they do this, I have a hard time believing they will fall to the second round. It is not being talked about a lot, but I could also see the Green Bay Packers moving up a few spots if there is a player they like.
I can’t see Green Bay moving into the top 15. Maybe beginning at pick 20 where Seattle is. Players like Cooper DeJean or Graham Barton could be there at that spot, two of my favorite players that fit what the Packers want to do.
The Green Bay Packers Will Address Safety and Linebacker Day 2
Safety and linebacker are two positions the Green Bay Packers have to address early in the draft. However, both the safety and linebacker position groups are not seen as strong groups or players that are first round picks.
I think that is potentially a good thing for Green Bay. They have four picks between rounds two and three. It would not hurt if they grabbed multiple players at each of these positions. They should be able to get the players they want, whether it’s staying put or even moving up.
The Green Bay Packers Will Make Multiple Trades
Whether the Green Bay Packers end up with fewer than 11 picks or more than 11, I can’t see them staying put the entire draft. Brain Gutekunst is known for this and it has paid off in multiple occurrences. If the Packers move up at all, I think it will be in day two so they can get a player they like that they think won’t be around at 41 or 58. They would also have to give a pick away too.
At the end of the day, I know Gutekunst said the would love to have 13 or 14 picks, but there just isn’t a need for that with a young roster and a big draft class a season ago. I know the competition is there, but you don’t want to let a player go with a ton of potential because of a loaded room.
