The Milwaukee Bucks made sure they won’t fall victim to the lowly Detroit Pistons Monday night, as they eked out a 122-113 win in Motor City. The Bucks, however, did not have a smooth ride from start to finish of the contest, with the Pistons showing some fight. It was only until Giannis Antetokounmpo started to flex his muscles in the final minutes of the contest that Milwaukee was able to breathe and feel comfortable.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Delivers Again for the Milwaukee Bucks in Win vs. Pistons
Bucks head coach Adrian Griffin had nothing but praises for Giannis Antetokounmpo following the game, as he looked back on a crucial stretch that had the Greek Freak showing the Pistons why he’s a two-time league Most Valuable Player, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN)
“Giannis just took over the game in the last five minutes,” Bucks coach Adrian Griffin said. “He’s a phenomenal player, but he’s also a winning player who makes winning plays when we need them. He got to the line, he found open teammates, he got on the offensive glass and he was getting stops and blocks at the other end.”
Antetokounmpo scored only four points in the last 5:20 of the Pistons game, but as Griffin mentioned, the superstar forward did more than just score. Over the same span, Giannis Antetokounmpo grabbed six rebounds, dished out three assists, and swatted a shot. He finished the game with a sparkling triple-double production of 31 points, 10 assists, and 17 rebounds — all in just 36 minutes of work. Antetokounmpo did not have to do it all by himself, though, as he got a big hand from Khris Middleton, who pumped in 26 points in 31 minutes.
Winners in five of their last six games, the Bucks will get a chance to avenge their embarrassing loss last week to the Cleveland Cavaliers when they take on Donovan Mitchell and company Wednesday night at home.
