The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Chicago White Sox by the score of 6-3 on Sunday afternoon. Right-handed starting pitcher Freddy Peralta overcame a long first inning that saw him give up two runs and throw over 30 pitches. He settled down and was able to to complete five innings of work, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out seven.
Rookie outfielder Jackson Chourio gave the Brewers the lead in the bottom of the second inning when they trailing 2-1. Earlier in the inning, first baseman Jake Bauers had hit a RBI double that scored rookie infielder Joey Ortiz. With two outs, Chourio launched the first pitch he saw over the left field wall for a three-run home run.
Milwaukee took a 4-2 lead and did not trail for the rest of the game. Paul DeJong hit a solo home run for Chicago in the fourth inning, but Gary Sanchez had a two-RBI base hit in the eighth to extend the lead.
Kevin Herget and Enoli Paredes pitched a combined four innings of shutout ball. Paredes notched his first career save in Majors.
Milwaukee Brewers Manager Pat Murphy Originally Planned on Giving Willy Adames and William Contreras the Day Off
Two and a half hours before the game, Brewers manager Pat Murphy submitted a lineup that had Ortiz playing shortstop, Sanchez at catcher, and Andruw Monestario as the designated hitter. It was supposed to be the first game all year that Adames and Contreras missed. Both have played in every game this season:

Shortly before the game started, though, Milwaukee released a different lineup, this one including Adames at shortstop and Contreras at the catcher:

Contreras was 0-4 at the plate, but was robbed of a three-run home run that would have made his day look a lot better. Adames was 1-3 with a walk and a run.
Milwaukee Brewers Manager Pat Murphy Reveals What Went Down with Willy Adames and William Contreras
After the game, Murphy was asked about what was said or done by Adames and/or Contreras that changed his mind in regards to giving them the day off. He responded:
“Yeah, you know, it’s pretty simple. I decided that this was a good day to give them a day off. And when they got word of that, they were really upset. They didn’t want the day off.
“We had a conversation. I let them go out of the room to think about it. [They] came back in. I told them, ‘You’re in.’
“That’s the entire truth.”
Murphy did note that a time is coming soon where one or both of them will need to take a day off. Contreras especially, as a catcher, may need some time off for the sake of his season-long health.
Neither player want to take a day off, though, so it will certainly be a battle for Murphy to keep one of them out, much less both of them.
