While the Milwaukee Bucks may seem done revamping their roster, there’s still a chance the front office can add more firepower in the months ahead. According to an NBA analysis, though, the franchise can do just that if they acquire Jordan Clarkson from the Utah Jazz.
Clarkson first showcased his talent early on at Karen Wagner High School in San Antonio, Texas. He began his college career at the University of Tulsa before transferring to the University of Missouri, where he earned recognition as a standout player.
In the 2014 NBA Draft, the Fil-Am guard was selected as the 46th overall pick by the Washington Wizards but was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers on draft night. During his rookie season, he made a significant impact, earning a spot on the NBA All-Rookie First Team. He quickly gained a following, particularly in the Philippines, due to his heritage.
Clarkson played for the Lakers until 2018, when he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. His tenure with the Cavaliers included a trip to the NBA Finals in 2018. In December 2019, he joined the Utah Jazz, where he continued to excel. Notably, in 2021, he was awarded the NBA Sixth Man of the Year, solidifying his reputation as a key contributor off the bench.
Beyond his NBA career, Clarkson has represented the Philippines in international competitions, further enhancing his status as a prominent figure in basketball, both in the U.S. and his ancestral homeland.
Utah Jazz’s Jordan Clarkson Named as Possible Milwaukee Bucks Trade Target
For a team like the Bucks, adding a proven source of offense might be harder than fans think. According to an NBA analysis by Greg Swartz for Bleacher Report, going for Jordan Clarkson from the Jazz is a move the franchise should consider.
“As a second apron team, the Milwaukee Bucks face a lot of restrictions in potential trades, including not taking on any additional salary. This means searching for players like Clarkson who can make a big impact while playing on a reasonable contract ($14.1 million).
The former Sixth Man of the Year averaged 17.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 5.0 assists for the Jazz last season and would join a Bucks bench that also potentially features Bobby Portis, Taurean Prince and Delon Wright,” Swartz wrote.
Last season, Clarkson averaged 17.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in the 55 games he played for Utah. These numbers were a step down from his performance during the 2022-23 campaign when the Jazz guard notched 20.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.4 assists.
Even though his production dipped a little, Clarkson’s overall performance can still be a boon for the Giannis Antetokounmpo-led Bucks if ever they go for him. If they do, expect Milwaukee to become a more dangerous team in the Eastern Conference.
