The Wisconsin football staff had a talented recruit on campus recently and defensive back left Madison with plenty of excitement surrounding the area.
Camaul King, a 2026 three-star safety from Miami, Florida, is a rising star in the recruiting class who holds a handful of scholarship offers. The Wisconsin football staff loves to scout and recruit players who they feel have gone under-the-radar, and word has not yet gotten out about King. During a recent interview with Wisconsin Sports Heroics, the talented defender broke down his recruitment and provided an insight into what will allow him to excel on the field this season.
Wisconsin Football Staff Keeping a Close Eye on Talented 2026 FS Camaul King
The Wisconsin football staff has kept a close eye on a special 2026 three-star recruit who was on campus during the Western Michigan win. The Badgers defeated the Broncos, 28-14, and gave safety Camaul King a close look at the energy Camp Randall can produce. Wisconsin was able to both pull off the win and impress a top recruit in one night.
King, a Florida native, is an accomplished and versatile safety that admittedly loves the energy of game-day. When asked about where it ranks in his recruitment, King responded, “It’s somewhere at the top of that list that intensity from the home crowd makes you feel more loved and wanted by the whole environment not just your team.” The safety also loved the experience he recently had at Camp Randall and felt the ‘enthusiasm’ from the fans was great.
The safety has his eyes truly set on development during his recruitment and wants to attend a program that will turn him into a great football player. King stated, “I’m really looking for a place that is going to help me develop the most as a player and person to help teach me that next level.” King is also incredibly family oriented, and wants a program that is going to embrace him like family.
King has received plenty of love and attention from some big schools early on in his recruitment, but certainly programs have stood out. The safety stated that Duke, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Illinois, Oklahoma, Stanford, Michigan, and Pittsburgh have been the most involved. King plans on visiting each school in the future when time permits.
What Could King Offer the Wisconsin Badgers Football Team, the Defense?
The dynamic safety King can offer quite a lot to the defense of the Wisconsin Badgers, especially in coverage. King is a ballhawk and his ability to read the quarterback and react to the quarterback is excellent, resulting in multiple interceptions this past season. Along with his ability to make a play on the ball in coverage, King also provides a level of physicality that is hard for a receiver to play against.
Opposing teams also need to be aware of King when returning interceptions or fumble recoveries due to his blazing speed. The athlete has experience playing wide receiver and had multiple 20+ yard returns last season on interceptions. The speed of King also allows him to get to the football faster and make a play in the air before the receiver can touch the ball.
King is also an accomplished downhill player, landing plenty of big tackles last season on the running back. At 6-feet, 170-pounds, King is not the biggest safety but he is certainly physical as he packs a major punch in his tackles. The highlight reel the athlete put together last season included big hits on much bigger players which displayed his fearlessness while hitting as well.
On the Wisconsin football defense, King could be a versatile safety that would certainly benefit the defense in the future. When asked about what sets himself apart from other safeties, King stated, “I think most coaches see how versatile I am. I can run sideline to sideline, I can cover tight ends, I can play man and I can play zone with my speed.” The safety certainly provides plenty of versatility on the defensive side of the ball which could benefit Wisconsin in the future.
