Keston Hiura was having a phenomenal season to start the 2023 season. The bat first player started the year off in Triple-A with the Nashville Sounds after the Milwaukee Brewers elected to remove him their 40-man roster prior to the start of opening day. Through the first 32 games of the 2023 season he had a .331/.396/.678/1.074 slash line with 12 home runs and 33 runs batted in. During this stretch his strikeout rate was down to 24.6%. Unfortunately he sustained a knee injury on May 12 that ended up sidelining him for quite some time.
On Wednesday June 21, Keston Hiura returned to the Nashville Sounds. He played in a few AZL games prior, but ended up going 0-3 with one walk in his return to the Sounds. His second game was a different story as he ended up launching a home run.

For both the Nashville Sounds and the Milwaukee Brewers this is good news. Keston Hiura was a call up candidate prior to his knee injury. If he continues to swing a hot bat he may get another chance in the big leagues.
Additionally Sal Frelick has also returned to Triple-A. The Brewers second rank prospect missed time due to a thumb injury that required surgery. Similar to Hiura he is also a call up candidate at some point this season.
