On Sunday it was announced that Keston Hiura was headed to the injured list. The Milwaukee Brewers and Nashville Sounds did not initially provide any details as to the nature of his injury. Today the team made his injury diagnosis public and also revealed when he may start playing baseball again.
The Milwaukee Brewers have announced details and a timeline for the injured Keston Hiura.
According to a Nashville Sounds pregame interview with manager Rick Sweet, he has indicated that Keston Hiura has a knee sprain. Specifically he is dealing with a PCL sprain. This is one of the cruciate ligaments that helps provide stability to the knee. His injury is not expected to require surgery but it will be at least late June before he is playing baseball again.
Injuries are never a good thing, but for Keston Hiura he was swinging the bat extremely well prior to this knee issue. Through 32 games he has a .331/.396/.678/1.074 slash line with 12 home runs and 33 runs batted in. During this stretch his strikeout rate is down to 24.6%.
To rehab from this injury Keston Hiura will report back to the Brewers complex in Phoenix. Hopefully he is able to make a full and speedy recovery because his play so far this year has put him front and center towards a potential return to the big leagues.
