It seems the Green Bay Packers have done it again. The Packers may have a franchise quarterback for the third time in a row. During his first season as a full-time starter, Jordan Love led the Packers within three points of making it to the NFC Championship game.
It is widely believed that the Packers will be a dark-horse Super Bowl contender in 2024. Jordan Love was the key reason the Packers were so successful in the latter half of the 2023 season.
The 26-year-old quarterback sat behind Aaron Rodgers for three years before getting his opportunity. He proved he was the right choice by season’s end. Love opened up about where his relationship currently stands with his former teammate Aaron Rodgers.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Opens Up On His Current Relationship With Aaron Rodgers
According to Christopher Kuhagen of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
If Love is doing an interview, he’s likely being asked about his relationship with Rodgers.
This one was no different. And his answer was the same.
“We have a great relationship,” Love said.
Love sat behind Rodgers for three seasons after the Packers selected him with the 26th overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft. The Packers felt confident about Love last offseason and traded Rodgers to the New York Jets, ending one era and beginning another.
While Rodgers and the Packers front office had their known disagreements toward the end of the four-time MVP’s tenure, there is no animosity between the quarterbacks.
“Obviously, I was in the quarterback room with him,” Love said. “When you’re in that room together you’re there every day for multiple hours a day so you build a relationship with everyone in that room.”
Love said he understands that there will always be comparisons between him and Rodgers but he doesn’t “focus on that stuff.”
Rodgers often texted his successor words of encouragement throughout the season, including before Love’s playoff debut against the Dallas Cowboys.
“Me and Aaron definitely got a good relationship,” Love reiterated.
Jordan Love Looks To Follow In Aaron Rodgers’ Footsteps
Aaron Rodgers took over as the Packers’ starter in 2008. The 2010-11 season saw that move pay off as they won Super Bowl XLV against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jordan Love will look to replicate that same success. Heading into year #2, the Packers are already one of the favorites to at least contend for a Super Bowl. As long as the team continues to grow together, 2024 or 2025 could be a real possibility for this team to make it back to the promise land.
