As of January 25th, 2023 these Teams are among the Highest in there Divisions and have been favored by many different writers to the best teams in Wisconsin High School Boys Basketball (WIAA) as currently stand. There are many different polls out there that show different things from WisSports, MaxPreps, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Lots of these teams are loaded up with College potential talent as well which is helping them move a long to continue to be a good team.
5. Arrowhead (Hartland, WI)
Arrowhead currently stands at a 15-1 record and 9-0 in the Classic 8 conference right now. There only loss came against Wisconsin Lutheran at home on January 10th by a score of 65-59. Arrowhead has a lot of talent from Austin Villarreal (17.9 PPG), Mac Wrecke (17.7 PPG), Bennett Basich (15.7 PPG) the three top scores currently for Arrowhead they are also a dangerous team on Defense from the two times I have seen them from the Game vs Muskego and played tight on Wisconsin Lutheran for most of the game as well.
4. Wisconsin Lutheran (Milwaukee, WI)
Wisconsin Lutheran currently stands at a 12-3 record and 5-1 in the Woodland West conference playing a really tough conference having Pius XI and Pewaukee who was once nationally ranked at 24. After seeing them they have played really tough throughout the Woodland West. I had the opportunity to see Wisconsin Lutheran play twice against Arrowhead and Greendale. One of there losses came to Oshkosh North at the Concorida University (WBY Shootout), in that game Wisconsin Lutheran trailed by 8 at halftime so they kept it close. Other two losses came to a very strong Pewaukee team and De Pere who is having a fantastic season. Jamiir Allen, Kon Knueppel and Prentice Young have been a big three factor to the team’s success this season.
3. Pewaukee (Pewaukee, WI)
Pewaukee currently stands at a 10-2 record and 5-1 in the Woodland West, same as Wisconsin Lutheran playing in a really tough conference. One of there losses came out in Sioux Falls, IA against Waukee Northwest in an invitational earlier this season in Iowa. There other loss came to Pius XI in a one point game which came down to the wire in there Home Gym. Earlier in the season Pewaukee was once ranked as #24 in the Nation according to MaxPreps. There team is lead by Milan Momcilovic, Luka Momcilovic the brother duo who have put large numbers up in the majority of game played this season and both of them have been known nationwide. I had the pleasure of seeing Pewaukee play once in there first game of the season against a struggling Menomonee Falls team at the time and the whole team looked great to start the season and are continuing to make a deep playoff run.
2. Middleton (Middleton, WI)
Middleton currently stands at 14-0 on the season, and of course undefeated in Big Eight Conference. This season Madison Memorial, Sun Prairie West and Stoughton gave them a run in a few close games but Middleton in everyone of those games has done a good job to keep the game close and pull it out. I have not had the opportunity to see Middleton play in-person yet but from the Highlights I have seen they look like a real state contender this year. They are led by Gavyn Hurley, Will Garlock and Kaden Fosdick who have all played a role in the team’s success this year in staying undefeated.
1. De Pere (De Pere, WI)
De Pere currently stands at 15-0 and undefeated in the Fox River Classic conference. They are ranked #1 in multiple polls being by WisSports and MaxPreps. They battled neck and neck this season in a game against Wisconsin Lutheran in a 54-52 win. Pretty much there only close games of the season which is what makes this team a heavy state championship favorite in Division 1. They really surprised me I have not had the opportunity quite yet to see De Pere play in person and there highlights are just great right now with the talent they have right now from John Kinziger, Zach Kinziger and Will Hornseth have all brought that team to success this year and so has the rest of this team.
