The Green Bay Packers started training camp with some players unable to participate. Of course, star quarterback Jordan Love is not practicing as he awaits the conclusion of his contract extension negotiations with the organization. However, other players have been not able to practice due to injuries that they suffered during the offseason.

One of these players was wide receiver Jayden Reed, who led the Packers in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns as a rookie in 2023. The former second-round NFL Draft pick injured his toe during his youth football camp. The injury was not severe but kept him from being on the field during the first two days of training camp.
Green Bay Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur Provides Positive Update on Wide Receiver Jayden Reed

Before practice on Wednesday, head coach Matt LaFleur informed members of the media that Reed is returning to the practice field for the third day of training camp.
Matt LaFleur: Jayden Reed (toe) returning to practice today. Likely limited to individual drill.

As seen in the post above, Reed will likely be limited to individual drills. There is no long-term concern for his injury, and he should be available for full team practices soon.
The same cannot be said, though, for offensive lineman Zach Tom, who tore a pectoral muscle this offseason. While Tom is doing limited amounts of work in practice, LaFleur stated there is no timetable for his return to 11-on-11 drills.
Jayden Reed Had an Historic Season for the Green Bay Packers

As mentioned previously, Reed led the Packers in receptions and receiving yards last season. He also tied Romeo Doubs for the team lead in receiving touchdowns. All told, Reed finished with 64 receptions for 793 yards and eight touchdowns.
His 64 receptions broke the franchise record for passes caught by a rookie wide receiver. Sterling Sharpe previously held the record with 55 receptions in 1988.
Reed’s season was one of the four-best rookie campaigns by a Packers wide receiver in their long 100+ year history:
Wide Receiver | Year | Receptions | Yards | Touchdowns |
Billy Howton | 1952 | 53 | 1,231 | 13 |
James Lofton | 1978 | 46 | 818 | 6 |
Sterling Sharpe | 1988 | 55 | 791 | 1 |
Jayden Reed | 2023 | 64 | 793 | 8 |
For those wondering, the great Don Hutson had 18 receptions for 420 yards and six touchdowns during his rookie season in 1935. His six receiving touchdowns led the NFL that year, which is a testament to how run-heavy the league was back then. However, Hutson only played in nine games, and started just five of those.
