Marquette Basketball Cracks Top 10
In the latest AP poll, the Golden Eagles come in at no. 10. They are the highest-ranked Big East team with Xavier at no. 13 being the next closest. Providence and UConn are also in the top 25 at no. 20 and no. 21 respectively. Creighton is the last Big East team in the top 25 at no. 23. It shows the strength of the conference to have five teams in the top 25. Marquette is beating good teams not just bottom-feeders.
A Tough Stretch Upcoming
We will know in the next couple of weeks how real this winning steak is. This week they play UConn and Georgetown on the road. The following week sees Xavier come to town before traveling to Creighton. Three road games, with two of them being against ranked opponents will be true tests for the Golden Eagles. Their only home matchup is against the next highest-ranked Big East Team. This stretch will tell us a lot about this team.
Regardless of how the next stretch ends, Marquette has shown that they are going to make some noise come March. They will not be an easy out of the tournament. They have a talented roster and a coach who has been to a Final Four before. With all the hype about Wisconsin basketball early in the season, Marquette has become the story in the state of Wisconsin.
