The Marquette Golden Eagles were one of the top teams in the BIG East Conference a season ago. Marquette will have a different-looking team this season with Tyler Kolek and Oso Ighodaro no longer with the program. Ben Gold, Chase Ross, Stevie Mitchell, and Kam Jones will be some of the key players on the roster this season.

On Monday, the first AP Poll of the college basketball season was released. The Marquette Golden Eagles were ranked number 18 in the AP Poll before the start of the 2024-2025 college basketball season.
Marquette Golden Eagles Fans Feel Disappointed About the Rankings Entering the 2024-2025 Season

Even with Kolek and Ighodaro gone, many Marquette fans feel like they could do some damage again this season in college basketball. They will be among the better teams in the BIG East Conference and college basketball. Here is what some of the Marquette Golden Eagles fans had to say about them being ranked only 18 in the AP Poll entering the 2024-2025 college basketball season:
This is Disrespectful 🤮 . Yall about to wake the nation up 💯

All this to somehow lose to Wisconsin again

Jon….
Shaka can’t just rely on 2 NBA guys anymore to bail them out
He’s actually going to have to coach this year for the first time without 2 NBA guys since losing to Abilene Christian
Something to watch…
Don’t be surprised to see the Golden Eagles headlining the NIT

It will be interesting to see how well Marquette plays this season. They still have talent returning to the program.
Creighton and UCONN Also Ranked

To no surprise, the UCONN Huskies and the Creighton Blue Jays are also ranked in the Top 25 from the BIG East Conference. UCONN is ranked third to start the season and Creighton is ranked 15th to start the season. The Marquette Golden Eagles, the Huskies, and the Blue Jays were the only teams from the conference to make the NCAA Tournament a season ago.
Another team to watch out for in the conference is the St. John’s Red Storm and also the Seton Hall Pirates. It would feel like a surprise if those three same teams again went to the NCAA Tournament in March.
