There was a time not so long ago when the Milwaukee Brewers were known for their power bats and run-producing offense. Now, they are a pitching factory with some of the best pitchers in the game. Devin Williams, Josh Hader, Corbin Burnes, Freddy Peralta, Brandon Woodruff: all home-grown. Indeed, Brewers’ relievers have won the NL Reliever of the Year in four straight seasons. Josh Hader won the award in 2018, 2019, and this season. Devin Williams won it last season. Corbin Burnes was recently named the NL Cy Young winner. It was the team’s first Cy Young win since 1982 when Pete Vuckovich won.
With the individual MLB awards all announced, the time has come for the relatively new All-MLB Teams to be announced. Following in the footsteps of the NFL and NBA, MLB players can be named to First or Second All-MLB teams. While no Brewers hitters were named to the teams, both Josh Hader and Corbin Burnes were named First Team All-MLB pitchers. Earlier this season, the two combined to throw the second no-hitter in franchise history.
Brewers Pitchers Joined By Big Names
Corbin Burnes, as mentioned, won the NL Cy Young this year. Josh Hader was the NL Reliever of the Year. Other pitchers on the First Team All-MLB are Walker Buehler, Gerrit Cole, Robbie Ray, Max Scherzer, and Liam Hendricks. The pitchers on the Second Team All-MLB included Max Fried, who pitched a gem against the Brewers in the NLDS.
