The Green Bay Packers will have a lot to address on day two of the 2024 NFL Draft. Green Bay already addressed the offensive tackle position and they will look to improve on the defensive side of the football in the second and third rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft.
With the selection of offensive tackle Jordan Morgan 25th overall from Arizona, it was a much-needed selection for the franchise and it will be interesting to see where they go next. A lot of quality defensive backs and pass rushers will be available on the second day of the 2024 NFL Draft.
It was surprising that general manager Brian Gutekunst and the Green Bay Packers did not take a defensive back in the 2024 NFL Draft. Who are some of the names in a second and third-round mock draft to watch out for when Green Bay is on the clock on Friday night?
A Mock Draft Once Again Has the Green Bay Packers Taking Iowa Hawkeyes Defensive Back Cooper DeJean With the 41st Overall Pick
To no surprise, mock drafts have the Packers linked once again to DeJean in the 2024 NFL Draft. A lot of people thought that Green Bay was going to take him 25th overall and it was kind of a surprise to see him still on the board.
Vinnie Iyer of Sporting News wrote as to why the Green Bay Packers would not pass up on Cooper DeJean this time around:
“DeJean’s athletic hybrid style as a corner put some teams off in the first round, but the Packers still should covet his unique brand of safety-like rangy playmaking.”
Not only does Cooper DeJean provide versatility in the defensive backfield, but he can also return punts. Green Bay is also looking to improve its special teams, but injuries could be one of the reasons why the Packers could pass up on him again 41st overall.
The Other Selection Sporting News Has Green Bay Making 58th Overall Is Bralen Trice, EDGE, Washington
The Green Bay Packers are looking to improve its pass rush department as well. They need someone to go alongside Rashan Gary and Preston Smith is getting older and not younger. They did draft Lukas Van Ness a season ago, but having depth at the EDGE position can’t hurt.
Bralen Trice is 6’3″ and weighs 245 lbs. Vinnie Iyer of Sporting News said about Green Bay making this pick of Trice by saying:
“The Packers need some instant pass-rush support and can go for this savvy producer.”
Trice had 41 total tackles and five sacks last season with the Washington Huskies. He was a part of a Washington defense that helped them to the National Championship Game before losing to the Michigan Wolverines. Bralen Trice would be a good pick 58th overall for the Green Bay Packers because they are looking to make improvements on the defensive side of the football.
