It’s no secret that Jackie Bradley Jr.’s time in Milwaukee didn’t live up to expectations. After a single season, Bradley Jr. left Milwaukee as part of a trade for Hunter Renfroe. To catch up on the deal that sent JBJ back to Boston, see this article.
When Milwaukee acquired JBJ, fans took it as a sign that team ownership wanted to be serious contenders. However, as the season went on, JBJ’s plate appearances left much to be desired. With this, fan feelings took a hard left. They reached a peak when the JBJ-Renfroe deal was announced in December 2021.
Bradley Jr.’s offensive stat lines were the definition of “disappointing”. Still, he had some moments that we can remember fondly. While he wasn’t the most consistent at the plate, JBJ was a solid defender in the outfield. He earned finalist honors in the 2021 Golden Glove awards. However, he lost the Center Fielder award to the Cardinals’ Harrison Bader.
In this article, I’ll be recounting some of JBJ’s iconic moments this season with the Crew.
Walk-Off vs. the Padres
Making Defense Look Easy
Spoiling Ozzie Albies… Twice
Offensively, the Brewers just couldn’t get started in the May 15 game against the Braves. JBJ still brought a bit of action with this exciting grab off of Ozzie Albies.
Then, the next night, Ozzie Albies came up to the plate again. Robbed of a home run the night before, he hit for revenge. Who played spoiler this time? JBJ again.
Even though JBJ’s time with the Brewers is widely regarded as a letdown, he did help the team in some key moments. Yes, it’s easy to be a downer – especially if you’re looking at JBJ’s offense – but let’s remember his good times too.
