The Green Bay Packers put the football world on notice on Thursday night. The spotlight was on them in their Thanksgiving rivalry showdown against the Detroit Lions, and while not too many expected the Packers to upset the odds and escape with a win in Detroit’s Ford Field, that’s exactly what Green Bay did.
Green Bay Packers HC Matt LaFleur Heaps Praise on Jordan Love
An elated Matt LaFleur spoke to the press after the game and to no one’s surprise, the Packers shot-caller had nothing but high praise for quarterback Jordan Love.
The 25-year-old QB put in a tremendous effort for Green Bay in this one, leading his team to a much-needed statement win over the NFC North-best Lions.
“Cool customer,” LaFleur said of Love, via Mike Spofford of the team website. “You never see him get too high or too low, whether it’s going good or not so good. He’s really matured a lot over these last four years.”
LaFleur clearly trusts his young quarterback completely, and the way he let Love do his thing on Thursday night is a clear testament to this fact. The decision paid off handsomely for the Packers.
Everybody Loves Jordan
LaFleur then went on to say how Love has won over the locker room. He hasn’t even completed one season as the team’s new QB1 — not to mention stepping out of Aaron Rodgers’ shadow — but the former Utah State standout has already earned the respect of everyone around him:
“All the guys in the locker room, they love him,” LaFleur continued. “I can tell you all the coaches love him. His approach, it’s consistent, just who he is on a daily basis. He’s one of the guys and that’s always important from that position.”
Let’s not forget, though, that Love is just getting started and this young man still has a long way to go. However, there’s no denying that he’s on the right path.
