Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love remembers his team’s Week 4 loss to the Detroit Lions well. It was a disappointing defeat for Green Bay against their division rivals, which obviously left a bad taste in their mouths.
Love himself stated that the Packers had been “waiting for this game for a while,” and true enough, they exacted some revenge against Detroit on Thursday night.
Jordan Love Reacts to Green Bay Packers’ Massive Win Vs. Lions
Love stole the show on Thanksgiving as he put in another stellar performance for the Packers. The 25-year-old had three touchdown passes on the evening with zero interceptions, while also completing 22-of-32 passes.
After the game, the young quarterback revealed the mindset his team has continued to live by as they battle their way through this season — one that played a crucial role in Thursday’s 29-22 victory:
“That’s just part of blocking everything out, being laser-focused on everything we’re doing,” Love said, via Mike Spofford of the team website.
Love made this statement in talking about Green Bay’s offense, but we all know, considering all the negativity that has been thrown in his direction this season, that this mindset applies to Love himself more than anybody else on the squad.
As much as Love turned in another impressive performance on Thursday night, it would not have been possible without the strong play of his wideouts. Christian Watson, in particular, was a man on a mission against the Lions, going for 94 yards on five receptions for one touchdown.
“The receivers balled out today,” Love said. “That’s that confidence we’re just going to keep building. They’re going up and making plays and that’s huge. I love the way they’re going out there and competing.”
The Packers came into this contest as the underdogs against a Lions side that still has a firm grip atop the NFC North despite Thursday’s loss.
In spite of all they have been through this season, however, Love and Co. remain steadfast in their desire to keep on building. This Thanksgiving win over Detroit is definitely a step in the right direction.
“That’s kind of the makeup of this team, where we don’t flinch,” Love said. “Going through the season so far, the close losses, just the way everyone shows up every week and continues to work … we show up ready to play.”
