The Green Bay Packers are heading into 2023 with a much different-looking roster. This off-season has been franchise-altering, headlined by the Aaron Rodgers trade. That hasn’t been the only major change, Robert Tonyan (Chicago Bears), Allen Lazard (New York Jets), and Dean Lowry (Minnesota Vikings) have all left to play elsewhere. Now from the looks of it, one more Green Bay Packers player may not be returning to the team in 2023.
Randall Cobb’s Number Given Away Suggests His Time With The Green Bay Packers Is Over
According to Co-Owner of Wisconsin Sports Heroics Robin Adams:
It appears as if the Green Bay Packers are officially moving on from veteran wide receiver Randall Cobb. Undrafted free agent wide receiver Malik Heath from Mississippi has been assigned jersey number 18 according to the team’s website. Some fans and content creators have suggested on social media that Green Bay might bring back Cobb to help mentor the team’s group of first and second year wideouts. That does not seem to be the case.
Randall Cobb is still an unrestricted free agent as the 2023 off-season continues. He has accumulated 625 receptions for 7,585 yards, and 53 touchdowns in a 12-year NFL career. The majority of that production came as a member of the Green Bay Packers. 10 of his 12 seasons have been spent in the Green and Gold. The Packers drafted him in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft. In 10 seasons with Green Bay, he totaled 532 receptions for 6,316 yards, and 47 yards. During his entire tenure with the Green Bay Packers, Cobb has sported the number 18. The Green Bay Packers giving away his number signals his time has likely come to an end with the team. When this was announced, many fans took to social media to express their opinions:
I bet they didn’t even FaceTime him to ask his opinion.

Randall Cobb is going to end up with the Jets with Rodgers. Just wait and see.
Cobb is not being released fool, he’s a free agent. And he already signed with the Jets.
