After an incredible 2022 season, the Nashville Sounds continue to get the recognition that they deserve. Earlier this offseason, manager Rick Sweet was named the International League Manager of the Year. Now the Sounds have been deemed the 2022 MiLB Organization of the Year. This is quite the prestigious award!
Let’s hear it for the @nashvillesounds!

The Sounds were the only minor league team to surpass 90 wins last year as they finished 91-58. They ended up competing in the International League Championship game. Unfortunately, they lost this game to the Durham Bulls.
In 2022, we saw the Brewers call upon a few Sounds players. Peter Strzelecki, Jason Alexander, Jonathan Davis, and Garrett Mitchell were all 40-man roster additions during the season and saw significant playing time for the Crew. Ethan Small and Esteury Ruiz were also called up, but had brief major league stints.
The Brewers plan to use a lot of players that played for the Sounds in 2023.
In November, the Brewers added Cam Robinson, Brice Turang, and Jon Singleton to their 40-man roster. Robinson was a late season promotion to Nashville whereas Turang and Singleton spent all season with the Sounds.
With Kolten Wong departing via trade, Turang is expected to compete for the every day second base job in 2023. Singleton did blast 24 home runs and led the minor league in walks last year with 117. He has a chance to see playing time with the Brewers at first base and designated hitter.
Lastly, but not currently on the 40-man roster, is Sal Frelick and Joey Wiemer. Both outfielders were promoted simultaneously to Nashville last year. Frelick managed to put together an on-base streak spanning 41 games. Wiemer collected 22 extra base hits in 150 at-bats and finished with an .888 OPS.
The Sounds had a historic season in 2022. It should be fun to watch players from last year’s team compete at the major league level in 2023.
