It has already been a dramatic offseason for the Milwaukee Brewers. While they have not made any notable transactions, David Stearns did step down as President of Baseball Operations. Despite the numerous rumors that he would depart this offseason for New York or Houston, he remains adamant that he will remain in his advisory role with the Brewers this year. Now that the offseason is underway for all teams, the Brewers have set about filling their 40-man roster after several of their players became free agents. Yesterday, the team announced four additions to the 40-man roster, all of which are intriguing prospects within their minor league system. Adding them to the 40-man roster ensured that they would be protected from the Rule-5 Draft.

As seen in the Tweets above, Brice Turang, Abner Uribe, Cam Robinson, and Jon Singleton have been added to the 40-man roster.
Brice Turang
There is a possibility, perhaps even a good one, that Brice Turang will start the season on the Brewers Opening Day roster. He spent the entire 2022 season with Triple-A Nashville where he hit .286/.360/.412 with 13 home runs and 78 RBI. Turang is the Brewers’ fourth-highest rated prospect and plays shortstop, second base, and center field. He also played third base in eight games for the Sounds last season.
Abner Uribe
The Brewers’ 26th-ranked prospect, Abner Uribe, finds himself on the team’s 40-man roster after an injury-shortened 2022 season. A torn meniscus that required him to have surgery. Prior to getting injured, Uribe had appeared in two games with Double-A Biloxi and had not allowed a run. In nine games in the Arizona Fall League, Uribe had an ERA of 0.90 and a WHIP of 1.20.
Cam Robinson
Another pitcher, Cam Robinson is the Brewers’ 27th ranked prospect. He shot through the minor leagues last season, starting the year in High-A Wisconsin and ending in Triple-A Nashville. In those three levels combined, Robinson was 3-1 with 25 saves in 52 games. He had a 2.49 ERA and 1.15 WHIP while striking out 84 batters in 65 innings.
Jon Singleton
The addition of Jon Singleton to the 40-man roster is a very interesting one. He is a left-handed hitting first baseman, just like Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez. Matt Arnold did say, though, the the presence of the DH in the National League gave the Brewers the flexibility to add Singleton to the roster. One has to wonder what this move means for either Tellez or Keston Hiura.
In any case, Singleton was one of the more productive hitters for Triple-A Nashville last season. Despite hitting just .219, he had an OPS of .809 while hitting 24 home runs and driving in 87 runs. Singleton has struggled in his stints with in the Majors. He played 114 games for the Houston Astros in 2014 and 2015. During that time, he hit .171/.290/.331 with 14 home runs and 50 RBI.
