The Milwaukee Brewers second ranked prospect in the organization has played 42 games at the Triple-A level this year. Since the promotion, he has managed to put together an impressive streak of reaching base safely. A home run on September 21 increased his streak to 38 consecutive games.
Sal Frelick homers for the 2nd game in a row and the 4th time in the last week. A 3-run missile and the @nashvillesounds lead 11-0 in Louisville. Frelick has reached safely in 38 in a row! #Brewers

Frelick’s Triple-A stats are incredible. His slash line is .364/.431/.497/.928. He has a 151 wRC+ along with three home runs, 21 RBI, and seven stolen bases. He’s done this all while striking out just 16 times in his 173 at bats.
It is hard to believe that Frelick began the year in High A ball. The 2021 first round pick earned a promotion to Double-A after just 21 games. From there, he played 52 games alongside Garrett Mitchell and Joey Wiemer. In early August, all three of those prospects were simultaneously promoted to Triple-A.
Of the three prospects, Garrett Mitchell was the player who got the promotion to the big leagues this September. The 2020 first round draft pick has provided a spark at times, but is still very young and adjusting to the major league competition.
With how well Frelick is playing, when will he earn a promotion to the big leagues?
Frelick’s stats are undeniably very good. If the Brewers had not already promoted Mitchell and were not in the midst of a play-off race with only a few weeks remaining in the season he may have gotten his feet wet in the big leagues this season.
More than likely, Frelick will debut in 2023. Andrew McCutchen is set to be a free agent at the end of the season. This may shift Christian Yelich to the primary DH spot and open up an opportunity for a younger player like Frelick.
Frelick debuting in 2023 also has its advantages in regards to the business side of baseball. For instance, if Frelick makes the opening day roster in 2023 and gets Rookie of the Year award considerations, under the new CBA the Brewers would gain an extra draft pick.
There is a lot to be excited about in regards to Sal Frelick. His play this season likely has earned him a spot on the Brewers big league roster in 2023.
