Brewers’ Game 1 Recap
It was played one day later than expected but as predicted, yesterday’s affair with the Mets was a low-scoring, pitcher’s duel that saw Freddy Peralta pitch 6 innings of 1 run ball. The Brewers lineup struggled but got timely hitting from the bats of Yelich, Chourio, and Bauers. The Brewers ran Megill, Payampas, and Uribe out of the bullpen to pitch a hitless 7th, 8th, and 9th. Both the Brewers (-110) and under 7.5 were correct and we can shift our focus to today’s game.
Fade or Follow
In game 2 of this weekend’s series, we will see a matchup between the Brewers’ D.L. Hall and the Mets’ Luis Severino. Hall is looking to make his presence known early as he was the key piece returned to the Brewers in their offseason trade of Corbin Burnes to the Orioles. Hall has been stellar in his small sample size of work in the Majors, sporting a career ERA of 4.26, 3.26 in 19 innings in 2023. On the other hand, Luis Severino is making his first start on the other side of New York.
The Bet(s) to Make: 03/30/3024
Luis Severino under 15.5 Outs
In today’s action against the New York Mets, I see this being a game that has a chance to wake up the bats. Severino had a horrible 2023 campaign, sporting a 6.65 ERA in the 89.1 innings he pitched. In Severino’s last 8 starts of 2023, he cleared this number only twice. Combined with the early season pitch counts set on pitchers, I see Severino getting pulled in the 4th or 5th even if he can keep his walks in check. I expect both lineups to have more punch to their games in this matchup, with the Brewers looking to score early against Severino.
