The Green Bay Packers made a decision in 2020 that changed the future of the franchise. During the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Packers selected QB Jordan Love out of Utah State. Three years later, just days before the 2023 NFL Draft, the Packers traded away Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets.
It was a move that gave the keys of the franchise to Love, and closed the door on a prolific Aaron Rodgers era. Now the exact same thing could be happening with his new team.
Former Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers Gets Same Treatment From The New York Jets During 2024 NFL Draft

A year after a torn Achilles ended Aaron Rodgers’ season after four snaps, the Jets are back with Aaron Rodgers in 2024. In an effort to prevent that from happening again, New York took the time to invest heavily into the offesnive line this off-season.
The Jets had already added a veteran backup in Tyrod Taylor, which they did not have last year when Zach Wilson was the only option behind Rodgers on the depth chart. Now, a third quarterback has been drafted by the Jets in the NFL Draft.
On Saturday, the Jets selected Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis with the No. 171 overall pick of the fifth round in hopes that he can develop into the future of the program.
What Does This Mean For Rodgers Future?

The selection of Jordan Travis in the fifth round was no slouch pick. The 23-year-old Travis, who was almost a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2023, visited the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets as part of his top-30 visits. Several other teams were also regarded as logical landing spots, including the Atlanta Falcons, the New England Patriots, the New Orleans Saints, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Prior to his injury, Travis was projected to be one of the best quarterbacks coming out for the 2024 NFL Draft.
Falling to the fifth round could be a major steal for New York. Aaron Rodgers just turned 40-years-old. If he actually intends on playing 2-3 more years with New York, it could set up Joran Travis to start around the same timeline that Jordan Love did.
It will be an interesting dynamic to watch for years.
