Opening Day
Every year opening day signifies good times ahead whether you are a die-hard fan, gambler, or casual. It’s the sign that summer is fast approaching, baseball will be on TV every night, and nights at the ballpark with a hotdog and good company are forthcoming. For the Brewers, opening day brings a sense of promise as the optimism radiates from this team. The division appears to be as winnable as ever with no team the clear frontrunner. This year, the roster will look different with cornerstone names like Corbin Burnes on new teams.
New Segment: Fade or Follow
With opening day around the corner, I have decided to start a daily segment where we outline the next Brewers’ game and the coinciding smart wager. The Brewers open their series in New York, facing the new-look Mets. The Brewers open up in a pick’em in their first contest of the year. This with Freddy Peralta and Jose Quintana set to take the mound for their respective clubs.
The Bet(s) to Make: 03/28/2024
Milwaukee Brewers (-110) & Under 7.5.
I see this game being a pitchers’ duel with the Brewers edging out the Mets in this season opener. The Mets’ new look lineup lacks the punch we have seen in recent years. Pete Alsonso, their superstar, struggles against the Brewers with a career batting average of .198 in 25 games. Lindor, Alonso, and Nimmo combine for a 2-16 stateline against Freddy Peralta in their careers. I expect this game to end low scoring, with the new-look Brewers’ bullpen to build on a strong Peralta start.
