The Wisconsin hockey team visited the Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday night in a battle of the two top-ranked schools in the country.
Unfortunately, Wisconsin had a difficult time going up against the Buckeyes and skated off the ice with a 3-0 loss. The Badgers have suffered their first loss of the 2023-24 season ahead of their second contest against Ohio State. Wisconsin will have a chance to get their revenge on Saturday as the Buckeyes host the Badgers once again.
Wisconsin Hockey Suffers First Loss of the Season Against Ohio State Buckeyes, 3-0
The Wisconsin Women’s hockey team played their first game since being named the top-ranked school in the country against the #2 Ohio State Buckeyes. In a battle between the top-ranked schools, the Buckeyes got out to a quick lead against the Wisconsin hockey team.
Ohio State scored a goal midway through the first period and controlled play moving forward. The Buckeyes out-shot Wisconsin 30-19 on the night, and 14 of the Ohio State shots came early on in the first period. Wisconsin hockey lost full control of the game when Jennifer Gardiner scored two power-play goals in under two minutes for the Buckeyes.

Wisconsin struggled to get anything past the stout Ohio State defense. To make matters worse, the Badgers played down a skater the majority of the second period, which is not easy to come back from. Wisconsin hockey may have suffered their first loss of the season, but their mistakes are easily correctable.
