The Wisconsin football team has received a wonderful piece of news regarding their defense after corner back Ricardo Hallman announced his return.
Hallman, who hauled in seven interceptions this past season, had been considering entering his name into the NFL Draft following a successful season. Instead, the Badgers defensive leader will return for another season following the successful transfer portal run from the Wisconsin football staff. Hallman will retain the top corner back spot for the Badgers in 2024.
Wisconsin Football Returns Top Corner Back Ricardo Hallman Amid Transfer Portal Success
After struggling during the 2022 season in his first year as a starter, Ricardo Hallman returned for the 2023 season with a completely different mindset. The corner back began attacking the ball and taking advantage of mistakes made by the quarterback during Spring camp. As the season began to unfold, Hallman established himself as a force in the secondary and a player the offense would like to avoid.
This past season, Hallman recorded 34 total tackles, seven interceptions, and five pass defenses. Hallman also had 152 return yards, including a 95-yard return for a touchdown against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. The corner back had been a key part of the Wisconsin football defense all season long, and now will lead the positional room once again.
Wisconsin Badgers Football Aims to Bring Re-Loaded Defense into 2024 Season
With the exceptional announcement from Hallman, the Wisconsin Badgers football team will now likely bring an entirely different defense into the 2024 season. With the commitments of Tackett Curtis and RJ Delancy, Wisconsin football addressed two of their biggest defensive needs in a big way. In particular, Curtis will fill a major hole at linebacker with his versatile, athletic play.
The Badgers are bound to bounce back after a tough first year under the guidance of Head Coach Luke Fickell. Fickell is a believer in tough, physical football which the Badgers struggled to play this season. Season two will likely look much different as Fickell continues to shape the program into what he believes will result in wins.
