The Wisconsin football staff has been quick to make contact with one of the premier transfer portal entries who formerly played for the USC Trojans.
Tackett Curtis, a former four-star linebacker from Louisiana in the 2023 recruiting class, was once considering Wisconsin football during his recruitment. Curtis had an official visit with the Badgers a year ago during his recruitment, along with Ohio State and USC. The talented linebacker is one of many players to exit the Trojans program following their subpar season.
Wisconsin Football Again In Contact With Former Top Recruit Tackett Curtis
A year ago, Tackett Curtis was ranked as a four-star linebacker and the 108th player nationally. Curtis was also the ninth linebacker in his class and the sixth overall player in the state of Louisiana. The linebacker held 46 scholarship offers before cutting his list down to four schools; Wisconsin, Arkansas, USC, and Ohio State.
This past season as a true Freshman, Curtis recorded 40 total tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble. The linebacker had his best game of the season in the 42-28 win over the Arizona State Sun Devils. Curtis recorded seven total tackles and two sacks as the Trojans put together a solid win.
Curtis will enter the transfer portal with three years of eligibility remaining as he begins his search for his next program. The Wisconsin football staff has been eager to land Curtis since his entrance into the transfer portal became official. The Badgers have already scheduled a call with the linebacker, and now hope to have him return to Madison.
The talented linebacker is an electric tackling machine as he consistently flies around the field trying to make a play. Curtis is always around the ball when the play is finished, and his instincts on defense could be just what the Wisconsin Badgers football team needs.
A Look Ahead: Can the Wisconsin Badgers Football Staff Land Tackett Curtis?
The Wisconsin football staff has had their eye on Tackett Curtis for quite some time now. Both Jim Leonhard and Bobby April III were the primary recruiters of Curtis a year ago, and even after his commitment announcement the staff pushed hard.
Now, with the new staff in place, one of the primary goals of Head Coach Luke Fickell has been establishing new relationships with recruits from the old staff. Curtis had thoroughly enjoyed his time in Madison previously, which could lead to another visit in the near future.
Curtis is currently considered one of the top players available in the transfer portal. It will take a significant amount of work and effort from the Wisconsin football staff to land the linebacker in the future.
