The Wisconsin football team has earned bowl eligibility for the 22nd consecutive year after defeating Nebraska in overtime, 24-17.
Wisconsin football Head Coach Luke Fickell has finally earned bowl eligibility in his first season coaching the Badgers. Fickell began the year with much higher hopes for the Wisconsin Badgers, but injuries and inconsistent play have made it difficult for the team to reach those hopes. Now, the Badgers have a chance to prove themselves in a bowl game this season.
Wisconsin Football Earns Bowl Eligibility with Narrow Overtime Win Against Nebraska

While at times it felt as though the Badgers may not reach this point, a massive weight has been lifted off of the shoulders of Fickell. Wisconsin football is officially eligible for a bowl game with one regular season game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers remaining. The Badgers did not make it easy, however, as it took the team an extra few drives to take down the Huskers.
Both Tanner Mordecai and Braelon Allen led the Wisconsin football offense as the injured duo of players powered through adversity. Mordecai, who cannot go under center due to a hand injury, passed for 160 yards and a touchdown while adding 51 yards on the ground. Allen suffered an ankle injury earlier in the season, but pummeled his way through Nebraska for 62 yards and two touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Jordan Turner had his best game of the season as he recorded a sack and nine tackles. Safety Hunter Wohler was credited with six tackles before exiting the game at halftime with an injury.
A Look Ahead: Wisconsin Badgers Football Faces Minnesota

Wisconsin football is now 6-5 on the season with one regular season game remaining. The Badgers finally got their much needed win after battling through key injuries, but there is still more football that must be played. Wisconsin will have a tough battle against the Minnesota Golden Gophers before a short break ahead of collegiate bowl season.
While the bowl game does not necessarily mean anything, the Wisconsin football team still needs to have a great showing. Between recruiting implications and building the culture of Wisconsin football under Coach Fickell, winning a bowl game will mean quite a lot.
